This two-day action-packed itinerary is perfect for families looking to stay active while they spend a weekend in Oakville.
Day 1:
Family Fun at Oakville’s Parks, Beaches, and Attractions
Start your morning by exploring Downtown Oakville. Walk amongst the boutique stores and window shop before visiting one of the many cafes or restaurants for breakfast. We recommend Fresh Kitchen and Juice bar, Crepe Kitchen, Second Cup, or Simple Kitchen.

After your breakfast walk to Lakeside Park. The park is situated next to the Oakville Museum and offers a beautiful view of Lake Ontario, Sixteen Mile Creek, and the Tannery Park Beacon. In Lakeside Park, you’ll find a great playground along the waters edge, perfect for kids to enjoy while you finish your coffee.
Once you have enjoyed the view and lakeside breeze, your next stop will be Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Spend the afternoon exploring the trails, children’s play barn, barn with animals, and 18-hole disc golf course. Learn a new sport as a family while enjoying the fresh air and tranquility of Bronte Creek Provincial Park. The course stays open year-round, and you can rent equipment at the park if you don’t have your own.
After exploring the park, head to Bronte Village for lunch. Order take out at either Zara’s on Wheels or Bronte Fish and Chips and have a picnic at Bronte Beach. Both restaurants have won Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town awards. Zara’s on Wheels won for best Mediterranean food and Bronte Fish and Chips won for best fish and chips.
Visit here for the full list of Bronte restaurants.
After you have enjoyed your picnic at Bronte Beach, build a sandcastle in the sand, explore the Bronte Bluffs, and dip your toes in Lake Ontario. Follow Bronte Creek north to the Bronte Marsh, if you are lucky, you may see beavers, muskrats, great egrets, and bald eagles.
As the sun sets on your first day in Oakville head back to your hotel to get ready for dinner.
For dinner, we recommend you visit Dave and Busters. Along with a full-service dinner menu, Dave and Busters offers over 100 interactive games to play, ideal for hours of entertainment. Dave and Busters is the perfect end to your first evening in Oakville.

Day 2:
Action packed adventures and expeditions
Start the day by enjoying breakfast at either Ben and Florentine or Pur and Simple. Both restaurants specialize in breakfast and have everything from pancakes to sandwiches.
Once you have enjoyed your breakfast head to The Ranch for horse back riding. Take in the scenery and wildlife; deer, hawks, falcons, and more as you travel through the trails on horseback. Be sure to make a reservation before you arrive on their website.
After your ride, you will be ready for lunch. Head to the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, Oakville’s state-of-the-art quad-pad arena. Sixteen Mile Sports Complex has hosted Curling Canada’s PointsBet Invitational, Hockey Canada’s World Junior Selection Camp, and the 2024 Centennial Cup.
After you have explored the arena, have lunch at Puckz Pub conveniently located in the arena. Puckz Pub won Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town award for best sports bar. Grab a window seat and you might have the opportunity to watch the fantastic Skate Oakville athletes rehearsing while enjoying your meal.
Next, it’s time to work on your golf swing. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced golfer, indoor golf simulators are a fun activity for the whole family. Modern Golf Oakville, Oakville Indoor Golf Centre, Tracer Golf Driving Range and Burloak Indoor Golf are all less than a 15-minute drive from Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. If you are visiting from May to October stop by Tee Zone, Oakville’s outdoor golf driving range. Tee Zone offers equipment rentals, and you don’t need to bring your own golf clubs or balls.
Finish your time in Oakville on a high note at the indoor skydiving facility iFLY. This activity is adrenaline pumping as you soar through the wind tunnel. Make lifelong memories with your family at this thrill-seeking experience. We recommend making reservations here before you arrive.
Once you are done skydiving, visit one of the many restaurants in the area, all within walking distance from the iFLY facility including Scaddabush, Baton Rouge, K&B Sushi, and Trattoria Timone.
