How to take the pledge

COMPLETE THE PLEDGE FORM

First, complete the form at the bottom of this page to take the pledge. By taking the pledge, you commit to taking the two actions below. You can do these on your own time, after taking the pledge, but try to get them done as soon as possible.

MEASURE YOUR SUSTAINABILITY SCORE

Once you take the pledge, we will send a link to complete your free, comprehensive, Sustainable Tourism assessment. The assessment criteria for businesses and destinations are based upon the internationally recognized Global Sustainable Tourism Council Criteria.* Once you complete your assessment, you will receive your Sustainability Score.

MAKE A PUBLIC COMMITMENT TO IMPROVE YOUR SUSTAINABILITY SCORE BY 2030

Finally, your Sustainability Score will show you where you're doing well and where you can improve, on a broad range of sustainability criteria. You can now prepare your public commitment, which can highlight these areas, or be more general. See an example on the Guidance page.

Your Sustainability Score

Your Sustainability Score will show you how you have performed on each section and subsection of the criteria. This will show you where are doing well and in what areas you can improve, so that you may set some goals and create an action plan to improve your sustainability performance between now and 2030.

Once you have completed your self-assessment and shared the link for your Sustainable Tourism 2030 Commitment, your organization name and a link to your public commitment will be published on the "Signatories" page of this website.

Access to resources & support

As a signatory to the pledge, we are developing and will provide you with access to tools and resources as they are available, including: A “We Took the Pledge” marketing toolkit, an example sustainability action plan, free educational workshops and webinars, additional resources to help you on your sustainability journey.
