Summer is here and we have curated the perfect two-day family-friendly itinerary to help you celebrate the sunshine and warm weather as a family. With several outdoor activities, attractions, and delicious restaurants there is lots to do in Oakville this summer. Day 1

Experience Oakville’s Provincial Park and Downtown Core

Start your adventure at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This park features countless fun activities. With its many trails, (we highly recommend visiting Gnome Road,) indoor play barn, farm animals, and disc golf course your family can spend all morning exploring the park.

After you have explored Bronte Creek Provincial Park, visit Playcious. This indoor play area has an array of fun activities including a jungle gym, ninja course, ball pit, indoor rock climbing, bumper cars and more. Purchase a play pass before you arrive and enjoy the countless fun activities offered at Playcious.

For lunch, stop by the Bronte Boathouse located in Bronte Village. This marine themed restaurant recently won Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town award for best patio. Reserve your spot beforehand and enjoy the view of the boats and Bronte Village’s harbour from the restaurant’s patio. This restaurant has a kid’s menu for those ten and under which also include ice cream at the nearby ice cream shop Duckies Dairy Bar.

Once you have finished your lunch and gotten your ice cream at Duckies Dairy Bar, walk alongside the waterfront of Lake Ontario. If you head East from the Bronte Boathouse you will come across the Bronte Harbour Playground. This nautical themed playground is a great place to stop at before heading to your next adventure.

The next stop is at Oakville’s driving range Tee-Zone. Visit the range to practice your golf swing. With its 70 grass hitting stations, a variety of packages (including the parent/child special,) and three different bucket sizes, Tee-Zone is the ideal place for any skill level and age.

After you have mastered your golf swing, your next stop is in downtown Oakville. Spend the rest of the afternoon window shopping the many boutique shops and bakeries in the downtown core of Oakville. Kids especially like to visit Claw City, and Candyfix while parents may like Must Boutique, Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town winner for best apparel and Homebody Studio, a boutique store where you can find clothes, jewellery, footwear, home decor, and great gift items.

For dinner, there are many delicious restaurants in downtown Oakville to choose from. If you are in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine visit Colossus  Greek Taverna. They offer authentic Greek cuisine and have a children’s menu for those 12 years old or younger. If you are in the mood for hamburgers, take a short drive to Kerr Village and visit the Hangry Pirate. This restaurant specializes in burgers and shawarma and is enjoyable for the whole family.  

Day 2:

Explore Oakville’s lakefront and unique attractions

Start your morning exploring Sixteen Mile Creek with the Burloak Canoe Club. The Burloak Canoe Club offers a one and a half hour guided tour of Sixteen Mile Creek by canoe. Each canoe fits two people and can accommodate up to five canoes per tour. Visit here to learn more and to book your tour before arrival.

After your tour of Sixteen Mile Creek, it will be time for lunch. STACK BBQ Smokehouse recently won Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town award for best kid’s menu. This restaurant is great for kids and adults alike with their BBQ style cuisine there is something to satisfy everyone and kids ten and under eat FREE on Sundays!

After you have finished lunch, head to the Oakville Entertainment Centrum at Winston Churchill. This plaza has many fun activities that the whole family can enjoy including mini putt at Putt-in-Glow, arcade games at Dave & Buster’s, and Indoor sky diving at iFLY. Spend the afternoon challenging your family to a game of mini putt or the many interactive games available at Dave and Busters or take your trip to new heights and try indoor sky diving.

For dinner, there are many restaurants within walking distance including 3 Brasseurs. This restaurant specializes in pub food and offers a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. They also offer a kids’ menu which includes a main dish, side of fries, dessert, and a drink.    

End your evening with a movie at the 5 Drive-In, Oakville’s outdoor movie theatre. This movie theatre is open seven days a week and each ticket includes two films shown back-to-back.
