We know the holiday season can be a busy time for everyone, which is why it’s important to carve out time to connect with friends and loved ones. With the new year upon us, this two-day itinerary is the perfect fun-filled guide. Gather your friends, head to Oakville, and have a women’s weekend in Oakville!
DAY ONE:
Head to Oakville Friday night to take full advantage of your weekend away. Check into your hotel and then hit the town for music and drinks. Beacon Social House hosts a DJ night every Friday and Saturday night. Kick off your women’s weekend by dancing and singing with your friends at Beacon Social House.
DAY TWO:
Explore Oakville’s shopping and Arts and Culture scene
Start the day by walking the streets of Downtown Oakville and exploring boutique shops and speciality stores. Grab a coffee or hot chocolate at Tribeca Coffee Co. and explore the wide range of shops. Whether you are interested in apparel, jewellery, beauty, home décor, or delicious bakeries, Downtown Oakville has something for everyone.
After you have spent your morning shopping, head to Kerr Village for lunch. In this trendy and eclectic area, you can find retailers representing 39 different cultures. After you have enjoyed your lunch, visit Gairloch Gardens. These beautiful grounds are home to The Oakville Galleries. Explore the gallery’s indoor art exhibits and outdoor gardens. The current exhibit, Charles Stankievech the Desert Turned to Glass, showcases a collection of videos, photographs, and sculptures. Music from The Glass Key will play while you view the exhibit.
After you have explored the Art Gallery head back to your hotel room to drop off any shopping bags and get refreshed before dinner. For dinner, head back to Downtown Oakville and dine at Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town winner for Best Wine Menu – Buca Di Bacco. This restaurant is known for its Italian cuisine and superb wine selection. It is also conveniently located near your next destination, the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.
After dinner, take a short walk to the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts to see one of their performances. Notable upcoming performances include Adina V, Classic Albums Live Performs: The Lithium Experience, Hyprov, and Jully Black. This intimate theatre seats under 500 spectators giving you an up close and personal experience in every seat. Please book tickets before you arrive. Not ready to call it a night? Head to Blk Swan for karaoke. Every Saturday, Blk Swan hosts karaoke night starting at 9:00 p.m. End the evening singing along to your favourite songs.
DAY THREE:
Tasty meals and artsy trails
Start your day in Bronte Village. Have a light breakfast at Taste of Colombia, their authentic Colombian coffee is the perfect way to start your morning. After breakfast walk through Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park and explore the At Home in Bronte Muskoka Chair exhibit. There are over 100 painted Muskoka chairs showcased throughout the park. Each uniquely designed chair was painted by Oakville community groups, local artists, and residents.
For your next stop, try something new. Oakville offers many creative classes that would be a wonderful bonding experience for your friends to try. Paradiso, Mercato, Nostalgia Latin Market offer cooking classes, and for those with a sweet tooth, Jeanette’s Cakes offers pastry making classes and dessert decorating classes. Spend the afternoon learning a new recipe with your friends. The best part is you get to eat what you make!
After your lunch, head to one of Oakville’s spas to unwind for a stress-free afternoon. Leela Eco Spa in Downtown Oakville offers spa packages including facials, massages, and reiki. Please book your spa package prior to arriving.
Next, head to Coronation Park. Stop at Wet Coffee first to pick up a hot chocolate and a tasty treat before making your way to the park. Every year Coronation Park is decorated in holiday lights from November to February. This Holiday season there will be more than 90 trees decorated by 130,000 lights, paths illuminated by 100 light displays, and 13 spotlight and laser displays. The lights turn on at 5:00 p.m.
After you have enjoyed the park and the luminous light displays, continue your journey to Bronte to have your last meal in Oakville at Por Vida. Por Vida is known for its Mexican cuisine and has won Visit Oakville’s Talk of the Town award for Best Tacos. This Instagram-worthy restaurant is the perfect place to wrap up your evening and cheers to a fun weekend.
