NEWS RELEASE
OAKVILLE – Visit Oakville is pleased to announce that the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, has invested $15,000 to support the enhancement of the Taste of Oakville culinary event in 2024.
This support, through the Tourism Growth Program, was instrumental in restaurant engagement, attracting 40 local restaurants to participate, the largest Taste of Oakville in the history of the event.
“The Halton region is home to destinations that offer unique experiences for both visitors and locals, serving as vital economic drivers in the community and throughout southern Ontario,” said The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. “Organizations like Visit Oakville have created unique and impactful experiences for all to enjoy.”
“With so many wonderful restaurants and culinary destinations in Oakville, events like Taste of Oakville are integral to showcasing all that our region has to offer,” said the Honourable Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Oakville. “This investment supports the longevity of this great event and has spillover effects for our town.”
Support also allowed for enhanced marketing in both digital and print, reaching a broader audience, attracting a record number of residents and visitors, and highlighting Oakville’s exceptional culinary offerings.
“We are incredibly grateful for the funding from the Government of Canada,” said Rebecca Edgar, Executive Director, Visit Oakville. “It allowed us to elevate the Taste of Oakville event, showcasing the exceptional talents of our local chefs and the fantastic dining experiences the town has to offer.”
Taste of Oakville is an annual culinary event featuring prix fixe lunch and dinner menus offered at restaurants across Oakville. It continues to be a highlight of Oakville’s winter event calendar, bringing the community together and attracting food enthusiasts from near and far.
