June is Pride Month, and there are many activities to celebrate Pride in Oakville, offering ways for residents to engage, support, and learn about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Join us in embracing the diversity and inclusion in Oakville with activities around town this month.

Show Your Pride

  • Rainbow Crosswalks: Walk with pride across Oakville’s rainbow crosswalks located along Lakeshore Road at the intersections of Navy Street, Kerr Street, and Bronte Road. These colourful intersections celebrate diversity, providing a visual representation of the town’s support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
  • Progress Rainbow Flag: The rainbow flag will also fly proudly at Town Hall throughout the month.

Creative Activities at Oakville Public Library

  • Pride Button Making: Head over to the Creation Zones of the Iroquois Ridge and Glen Abbey branches of the Oakville Public Library during drop-in hours to craft your own Pride button. Find more details about the drop-in hours events here.
  • Pride Trivia: Test your knowledge and learn more about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by participating in Pride Trivia. Trivia events will be held:
    • June 6, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Central Branch
    • June 18, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Glen Abbey Branch

Take in a Movie at the Oakville Film Festival

Now in its 11th year, the festival brings the best in local, Canadian, and international cinema to Oakville. This year’s lineup includes several 2SLGBTQIA+ films and short films including:

Close To You – Sam (Elliot Page) has a chance encounter with an old friend (Hillary Baack) on his way home to a dreaded family reunion that forces him to confront long-buried memories.

This film screens Saturday June 22 at 9:00 p.m. at Film.Ca Cinemas.
