NEWS RELEASE

OAKVILLE – Visit Oakville is excited to celebrate National Tourism Week 2024 (April 15-19).  Now, in its 14th year, National Tourism Week is an annual celebration dedicated to recognizing the importance of tourism and its significant impact on local economies and communities.

As a vibrant destination nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario, Oakville is proud to showcase its rich history and culture, stunning waterfront and green spaces, and diverse attractions during National Tourism Week. This week-long celebration serves as an opportunity to highlight the many reasons why Oakville is a must-visit destination for travelers near and far.

“National Tourism Week is a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of tourism to our community,” said Rebecca Edgar, Executive Director, Visit Oakville. “Oakville offers something for everyone, from its picturesque waterfront and charming downtown to world-class dining and cultural experiences. We invite visitors to explore all that Oakville has to offer and discover why it’s the perfect destination for their next day trip or getaway.”

This year’s theme (Canada: Powered by Tourism) echoes the undeniable truth that tourism is a cornerstone of Canada’s prosperity. It is a sector that fuels the creation of one in fifteen jobs nationwide, infusing over $100 billion in spending into the Canadian economy and makes tourism the third largest job creator in the country (TIAC 2024).
