It’s the dog days of summer! And if you’ve been wondering where you can take your furry friend to let them wander off-leash in Oakville, then you’re in luck. Here are our top four picks to have your pooch frolicking in no time:

Bronte Creek Provincial Park

Bronte Creek Provincial Park (1219 Burloak Drive) has not one but two off-leash areas where dogs can roam free. It offers acres of beautiful off-leash woodland walking trails, with river access. Washrooms and water for dogs is available in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. The park is accessed from both the campground side at Bronte Road and Upper Middle Road and the Day Use entrance on Burloak Drive.

Tip – Visitors do have to pay an entrance fee to get into this park; however, if you stay for a while, have a picnic and explore the Nature Centre, Playbarn or have a round of disc golf, it’s well worth the fee!

Shell Dog Park
Just a stone’s throw away from Bronte Harbour, Shell Dog Park (3307 Lakeshore Road West) is a large off-leash park that has a separate area for small dogs. The park has a number of picnic tables, a watering station and is next-door to a tennis court, kids park, Shell Skateboard Park, and walking trails.

Palermo Park
Palermo Park (2345 Dundas Street West), is a large fenced in dog park that features a nice walking trail surrounding the park – perfect for those days when you need to get your steps in.

Tip – There is no watering station on-site, so owners should bring a portable bowl and water for their dog.

Post Park
Surrounded by trees (making it shady and cool) and a nice walking trail, Post Park (512 Macdonald Road) is a great place for pups to meet new pals and get some exercise. The park is home to plenty of watering bowls, has ample parking and is next-door to a small children’s playground and a soccer field.
