Hey Oakville! As restrictions start lifting, we know that not everyone’s comfort level is the same. If you’d rather stay close to home right now but still want to support and explore local, there are so many options available!
Keep reading, as I spent a day enjoying Oakville from home and I’ll be sharing what I tried out and highly recommend!
It’s so important to get your body moving and stay healthy during this time at home, and Greco Fitness Oakville was able to help me out. They’ve got an AMAZING selection of online, on-demand workouts at an affordable price.

I love this option because of how accessible it is! No matter how busy I am, I know I can get high-quality, safe and fun workouts within my daily schedule. I also love that I’m able to workout outside in the fresh air!
Having the workouts led by Greco Fitness trainers made me feel comfortable and ensured my form was correct throughout the session. This digital platform shows that Greco Fitness strives to meet clients where they’re at in their health and fitness journey, which is a vital part to our well-being. After moving my muscles for the day, I ordered some food for pickup at a local Oakville restaurant.

Not ready for the patio experience just yet? Try indulging in takeout if you’re still looking for ways to support local. I chose to order from Far East Taco. It was the perfect fusion of East and West, with their kalbi tacos and bulgogi bao sandwiches.

Their meats are marinated in a Korean BBQ sauce that packs a flavourful punch, topped with fresh vegetables, sauces, and served in a soft taco shell or bao.
If you’re able, try picking up directly from the store rather than using external delivery services so the local business is being 100% supported!

We’ve all been picking up new hobbies during this time, but, more often than not, we need a little head start. This is why I needed to try a paint-by-number kit from Pottery N Paint Cafe Inc. They provide all the materials and instructions necessary to complete your painting of choice.
I love how this activity forced me to slow down and relax, something we all need from time to time! It was also the perfect time to catch up with some friends, family members and classic shows.

Yep, we’ve got another crafty activity coming up! Spun Fibre Arts is filled with such a wide variety of beautiful materials, I knew I needed to start somewhere small before working my way up.
I’m so glad the employees helped me pick out this crocheting basket, one of the easier crochet designs for beginners.
Like many new things, it required a lot of patience and persistence to get the crochet knots and stitches correctly, but I could always unravel the macrame cord and start over whenever I needed to!

One of the things I have missed most in the last year is going to the movies! Theatres are thankfully opening up again, but there are still options for those of you who aren’t ready for the big screen just yet. You can support local theatres like Film.ca by renting a movie online or ordering snacks from their takeout concessions.
“One Pandemic Day” is a documentary featuring Oakville residents navigating one day in the pandemic. It ranges from small business owners, to parents, to students, and even the Oakville Mayor himself, Rob Burton! This documentary shows the collective struggle and unity we have all faced during the pandemic, the unique ways we have cared for one another and our hopes moving forward.
This documentary is available for a time period of 24 hours at a low price for $3.99.
I also decided to purchase some snacks directly from Film.ca Cinemas to really dive deep into that home theatre experience!
