Summer days were made to be spent at the beach! Whether you prefer to take a dip in the water or relax on the shore, there is something for everyone at Oakville’s own Coronation Park. I spent a great day out at this lakeside destination, so keep reading to learn about all this beautiful spot has to offer.
Before heading out to the beach be sure to pack these essential must have items.
- Beach towel
- Water shoes
- Water bottle
- Life jacket
- First aid
Coronation Park is located on Lakeshore Road west of Fourth Line and east of Third Line, right on the shores of Lake Ontario. This park is full of family-friendly amenities, such as a splash pad, playground structures, bathroom facilities and a beach volleyball court. There is also a lot of free parking and access to a beautiful rocky beach.
I visited the park in the late afternoon with my mom, and there were already a few families playing at the playground and splash pad when we arrived. Others were having picnics on the grass or cooling off in the water. There was so much space available that it never felt overcrowded.
The beach has some nice sandy areas where people could lounge by the water, but a good portion of the lakeside is filled with rock pebbles for those who love skipping stones. There were many children swimming and there were even a few people paddleboarding as well.
My mom and I found a spot on the sand and enjoyed the deep blues of Lake Ontario. We even spotted some boats on the water further out into the lake. After taking in the view, we walked a bit of the paved trail along the shoreline. It was nice to come out to a beach and enjoy a quiet afternoon.
A long day at the beach also means lunch on a patio in nearby Bronte Village. I recommend dinning at the Bronte Boathouse to enjoy a great meal by the waterfront. Some of my other favorite lunch spots in Bronte include Por Vida, La Parisienne Crêperie, and Thai Senses.
Overall, I had a great time at the beach at Coronation Park. I think it is the perfect place for family outings and a great place to soak up a bit of sun this summer.
