(Oakville, ON) Visit Oakville began Tourism Week in Canada, May 23 – 30, 2021, by unveiling its new brand and website.

The new logo’s nautical features highlight the importance of the town’s lakeside location in welcoming early visitors, both as a thriving port of entry for merchants and sailors, and as a terminus for the Underground Railroad.

The boat and anchor recognize Oakville as a place of adventure that is also grounded in history, while the branches pay tribute to Oakville’s early economy based on lumber and shipbuilding. .They also give a nod to Oakville’s green spaces, one of the things residents and visitors love most about the town today.

But like many things in 2020, plans changed. The project was put on hold as the organization navigated its way through pandemic and what it would mean for the local tourism industry.

“With vaccination rates increasing and numbers trending in the right direction, we see the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Philippa Durbin, chair of Visit Oakville’s board of directors. “Our goal with the new brand and website is to be in the best possible position to market Oakville as a destination and support our local partners through the next stages of recovery.”

Visit Oakville will be kicking off this tourism week celebration with a branded merchandise giveaway to be followed by gift card giveaways featuring $2,000 in gift cards from local tourism businesses.
