Winter may not be everyone’s favourite time of year, but it’s an undeniable part of the Canadian experience. So, as part of our patriotic duty, we’re taking a look at some ways to enjoy this season in Oakville, whether that means embracing it or escaping it.
Outdoor Excursions
Those willing to brave a bit of brisk weather will be rewarded with some spectacular winter sights at any of Oakville’s parks, trails or gardens. Traverse some of our 150 kilometres of trails on a nature walk, enjoy a scenic stroll through one of over 200 parks or simply sit with a hot beverage and enjoy the view.
Prefer some water in your winter scenery? A number of Oakville’s parks, trails and gardens are located right on the shores of Lake Ontario, so there’s no reason you can’t enjoy your winter walk and get a great view of the lake while you’re at it. You might even see a swan or two!
Indoor Escapes
Those simply waiting for winter to end can still find plenty to enjoy with a number of indoor Oakville escapes. History lovers can enjoy some heat and heritage at the Oakville Museum, Canadian Golf Hall of Fame or Sovereign House, while arts enthusiasts can cozy up with some culture at Oakville Galleries or the QEPCCC.
If you’d rather raise the temperature with some thrills, you can enjoy games, food, drinks and more at Dave & Buster’s Oakville, or skydive without the wind chill at iFLY Toronto.
But perhaps the perfect place to seize a little bit of summer is Oakville’s Municipal Greenhouses. This hidden oasis features balmy temperatures, beautiful blooms and a peaceful pond that are sure to make you forget about the cold climes outside.
We hope we’ve given you a few winter activity ideas to make your season even more spectacular. No matter your opinion on this coldest of seasons, we hope you enjoy some of the winter wonder that Oakville has to offer.
