International Women’s Day — celebrated for 102 years around the globe — may be Friday, March 8, but it has been recognized on several occasions all this week in Oakville.

Halton Region hosted an International Women’s Day breakfest Wednesday (March 6) at the OE Banquet Hall. The event featured speaker Hellen Buttigieg , a certified professional organizer and TV host.
The breakfast was sponsored by Halton Region’s Small Business Centre, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment.

On Thursday, the International Women’s Day Dinner Party was held at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre hosted by the Women of Halton Action Movement (WHAM) and Zonta of Oakville.

Featuring speaker Shae Invidiata, founder of free-them, a group that creates awareness to prevent human trafficking, raised funds for Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services (S.A.V.I.S.) and Canadians

Friday (March 8), the Abbey Park High School Young Women in Leadership Council hosted its second annual Oakville International Women’s Day Breakfast at the 1455 Glen Abbey Gate high school.

This event, featuring Sandy Cimoroni, president of TD Mutual Funds, as a guest speaker, will send all proceeds to Halton Women’s Place.
