Papier Mâché Sculptures
Location: Oakville Art Society, 560 Bronte Road, Oakville
Time: February 28 and March 7, 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
OAS is very excited to welcome Tatjana to OAS! In this two-day workshop, participants will explore the playful world of papier mâché using familiar, household materials such as tinfoil, masking tape, and cardboard. Taking inspiration from Mexican Alebrijes and other mythological chimeras, participants will design and sculpt their own whimsical creatures that blend the real and the fantastical. Day One focuses on building armatures and learning how to make and apply homemade paper clay and pulp. Day Two will be devoted to painting and finishing, bringing each unique creature to life through colour, texture, and pattern. This workshop encourages creativity, experimentation, and storytelling through sculpture—no prior experience required! All materials are included, and artists of all ages are welcome! Participants are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for messy work or bring an apron.
