Moccasin Trail Walks

Sep 25, 2021

Come with family and friends to explore the history of the lands in the Oakville area from an Indigenous perspective. Learn what you were not taught in school with a First Nations guide, while taking a relaxing walk amongst the beautiful colours of the Oakville Trail system along the inner west side of Sixteen Mile Creek. Your guide, Stephen Paquette, is of the Ojibway (Anishninabe) Nation, whose people were the traditional stewards of the lands on which Oakville sits. Your other guide, Sherry Saevil, is a Cree woman from Treaty 6 territory, her passion for Indigenous issues developed naturally through personal and professional experience. She is the Indigenous Education Advisor for the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) and co-founder of Grandmothers Voice. Explore your trails, explore your history, explore your spirit. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Limited spots. Pre-registration is required. Masks must be worn at all times during the walk. Age: 2+
