Family Day
Location: Oakville Historical Society, 110 King St, Oakville
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Explore what life was like for 19th Century children: try out some "old time" activities!
Meet the Family
- Visit the generations of Chisholms at their new display. Find out who they are, their achievements and contributions to Oakville. Dress up and take a selfie in the OHS Family Gallery.
String is the thing!
- Many of the toys of the 1800s were made from household items. String was something that was available. Try your hand at “Cat's Cradle”, Cup and Ball Game or “Button Buzzers”. Make or take the games to go.
Handkerchief "Church" Dolls
- Made from a readily available handkerchief, they served as silent, soft toys preventing noise during long religious services thus earning their name. Create one as a new member of your family!
