Family Day at the Oakville Museum
Locations: Oakville Historical Society offices, 110 King St, Oakville and The Coach House, 8 Navy St, Oakville
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Join us for a free, fun, family-friendly afternoon at the Oakville Museum. Online registration will open on Friday, February 14 at 9 a.m. for Oakville residents.
Timed activities:
- Visit the Oakville Museum for a guided tour of Erchless Estate. Learn about Oakville's founding family and gain insight into the town’s past, including a fascinating glimpse into Oakville's Black History. Available every half hour from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Create a yarn wrapped butterfly to welcome in spring with a special guest artist. This is a parented workshop is for ages 5 to 12. Available at 1:30 and 3 p.m.
Drop-in activities available between 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
- Float your boat and create a nautical themed craft at the historic Coach House with our friends from the Oakville Historical Society. Challenge your family with classic recess games and traditional board games of the past!
- Visit the Oakville Historical Society Archives to explore the "School Days" exhibit and try your hand at cursive writing on an old-fashioned school slate.
- Meet the Curators of the Pathways to the Stars exhibit, Michael and Terry Murphy, and learn about the 100th anniversary of the RCAF and Oakville’s contributions to the Canadian Airforce.
- Design your own fancy paper plate in the Museum lobby inspired by the Be Our Guest exhibit.
- Complete our Meet the Neighbours outdoor scavenger hunt through Old Oakville to win a prize!
