Keep your body and mind safe and healthy while staying home this spring by exploring Oakville’s cycling trails.

Follow along with this day-long itinerary to explore Oakville’s natural infrastructure safely and responsibly.

Trail cycling in the Taplow Creek system

Pack up the car and start your morning with a takeaway breakfast from one of many local brunch spots. Visit here for a list of Oakville restaurants.

Once you’re fueled up and ready to go, make your way to one of many entrances into Taplow Creek Trail. This multi-use trail runs through much of Oakville’s Nottinghill and Glen Abbey neighbourhoods, so you can easily enter or exit the trail onto a main road.

Interested in something a little less rustic? The Crosstown Trail is a four-metre wide asphalt multi-use trail that provides rest areas, connects with parks and has a bike repair station at its Sixth Line intersection. Experience the best of both worlds and plan a route that includes the spot where the trails intersect at Pinecliff Road.

Pro tip: Use the Town of Oakville’s interactive trail map to easily plan your own route

Prime parking and picnic perches

Drive or bike into one of Oakville’s three retail districts, Downtown OakvilleKerr Village or Bronte Village, for a little lakeside lunch before heading out on your next adventure. Bronte and Kerr are home to bike corral parking, and there is secure bike parking in one of Downtown Oakville’s parking garages that also has a multi-tool repair and tune-up station.

Stop by at one of Oakville’s local restaurants for lunch before continuing your adventure.

Lakeside leisure rides

Get back on that bike and spin your wheels on Oakville’s lakeside trails. Cycle from one end of town to the other, or tour select neighbourhoods with trails at Lakeside Park, Tannery Park, Coronation Park, The Waterfront Heritage Trail and Bronte Beach Park.

Stick around for a sunset picnic dinner or pick up from a local restaurant before giving your legs a well-deserved rest at home. Don’t forget to indulge in a little ice cream before you leave! Local spots like Flavour Fox (Best Ice Cream Talk of the Town Award-winner), La Dolce Vita and La Diperie are opening for the season.

Most importantly, don’t forget to tag @VisitOakville in your adventures!
