Oakville Youth Week

Every year, Oakville celebrates Oakville Youth Week with FREE activities, learning opportunities and events for youth ages 11-19.

Throughout the week, youth will have FREE access to all drop-in youth programs, open houses at all Town of Oakville youth centres, creative activities with the Oakville Public Library, and so much more!

Wednesday, May 1

Youth Week at the YMCA

YMCA of Oakville, 410 Rebecca Street

Youth ages 10 to18 get free access to the YMCA of Oakville all week long!

Thursday, May 2

Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre Youth Drop-in and BBQ

2200 Sawgrass Drive
3 to 7 p.m. (BBQ 5 to 6 p.m.)

Drop-in or email michelle@opnc.ca to pre-register. Volunteer hours available.

Youth Drop-in Soccer

Pine Glen Soccer Centre, 1520 Pine Glen Road
4 to 5 p.m.

Come on out to kick the ball around at a game of drop-in soccer and to try out some soccer skills courses. No soccer experience necessary – come and have fun!

Friday, May 3

Friday Youth Night at YMCA

YMCA of Oakville, 410 Rebecca Street
7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Friday Youth Night includes rock climbing, basketball, swimming, and a bonfire with snacks.

Saturday, May 4

Drop-in Soccer with the Oakville Soccer Club

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC), Double Gym, 2302 Bridge Road
Noon to 1:30 p.m.

Fire Fit Obstacle Course

QEPCCC, 2302 Bridge Road
Noon to 4 p.m.

Come test your firefighting skills. The Oakville Fire department will be creating an obstacle course to demonstrate a fire fighters fitness and ability to deal with the physical rigors of the profession.

To help motivate everyone and establish some times to beat, the fastest participant will receive a fire fit t-shirt. Come out, have fun and show us what you’ve got!

Visiting the Globe

QEPCCC, Program Room 1, 2302 Bridge Road
Noon to 4 p.m.

Come and try some art and activities from different parts of the globe! Learn some interesting words in other languages and games that you can enjoy with others.

Halton Environmental Network Film Workshop

QEPCCC, Youth Centre, 2302 Bridge Road
Noon to 4 p.m.

Be inspired by other amateur films and learn how to create your own film for our Amateur Film Festival.

This workshop will teach youth all the aspects of filmmaking needed to make a short one-minute film using an iPhone or iPad. Participants will learn to put together their very own environmental film by learning the basics of storytelling, shooting and editing a film.

Emergency Services vs Youth Basketball Game

QEPCCC, Double Gym, 2302 Bridge Road
2 to 4 p.m.

5 vs. 5 game against Halton Regional Police, Oakville firefighters, and Halton Paramedics. Enjoy pizza after the game. Email oakvilleyouth@oakville.ca to register.

Watch youth dance, sing, and perform in our Oakville Talent Starz. All welcome!

FREE for youth ages 11 to 19. Admission is $6 for others.

Sunday, May 5

12-Hour Youth Art Project

QEPCCC, Youth Centre, 2302 Bridge Road
8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Showcase your artistic talents and take part in a 12-hour art project to earn volunteer hours and celebrate National Youth Week. Email oakvilleyouth@oakville.ca to apply.

Mindfulness Matters

Glen Abbey and White Oaks Library Branch Locations
4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Come find your calm at the library where we’ll have a variety of sensory and other hands-on activities to support decompressing from your busy day and finding relaxation.
