Join the Oakville Public Library and Oakville Galleries for a Talk with Sheila Heti, part of the Authors on Art series. Held alongside Sara Cwynar’s exhibition, which uses film and photography to explore the potent emotional and aspirational charge of material consumption, this talk sees Heti pose the question “Should Artists Shop or Stop Shopping?” Is shopping a form of creativity, and if it is, what is the shopper creating? Is the shopper a creator like the artist is a creator? Can one be an artist of shopping? What would the artist of shopping look like, and what would the artist of not shopping look like? What could each artist teach us, and which one is the better artist?
Admission is FREE, though registration is required.
