In honour of Canada 150, the Oakville Choral Society’s spring concerts will celebrate the music of Canadian composers and feature the world premiere of The Canadian Maple by OCS Music Director, David Bowser.
The Canadian Maple is a multi-media composition, inspired by the words and art work of elementary school students created in response to the question, ”What does Canada mean to me?” Schools which have partnered in the project include Heritage Glen Public School, Fern Hill School, Dearcroft Montessori School, West Oak Public School and Runnymede Public School.
The concert program will also highlight the work of Canadian composers Calixa Lavallée, Healey Willan, Leslie Bell, Eleanor Daley, Matthew Emery, Stephen Chatman and Mark Sirett. The 60 member community choir will be accompanied by talented pianist, Anne Marie Leonard.
Friday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m.
