Join us at Healthy Parks, Healthy People, as we get outside and enjoy our park through learning and play. All programs are no charge (camping, pool and rental fees still apply).
Tours, activities and workshops will be happening throughout the day. Learn and experience for yourself how being in the great outdoors is good for your health!
Special events and programs
Learn to Disc Golf or Tips from the Pro : 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Parking lot F
Great for beginners of any age! Pick up a disc, and learn the basic movements/rules, then head out on the course for a round.
Skilled golfers will be on hand to show you the ropes and join for a couple holes or more.
Look for the event tent at the entrance to the course and will have loaner discs available. There will be club fundraiser discs if anyone wishes to purchase anything above and beyond what we can supply.
Canoe basics : In the Pool. 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
First come first serve. Registration at pool. Swim test and PFD required. We loan out PFD’s.
This is your opportunity to learn the basics of canoeing! 30min – 45min family lessons. No experience needed. We are hoping this activity will attract visitors who have never had the opportunity to get into a canoe.
Go WILD for Art : 1 p.m. Picnic Shelter D
This year, 2018, marks the 125th anniversary of Ontario Parks. July 20 is HPHP day as well as OP125 Celebration Day. Algonquin was founded in 1893 and Ontario Parks is celebrating with a number of anniversary based events and themed programs including art heritage. Art heritage in Ontario- Canada and the growth of the provincial park system are closely intertwined. Show your creative talents during this hour of art discovery.
Trail Running : 6 p.m. meet at picnic shelter D
Evening run with intro the tips before you set off. There will be 3 trail running groups (different paces). Runners will have a chance to win a Summer Vehicle Permit.
Yoga in the Park : 6:30 p.m. meet at picnic shelter D
Michelle will guide you through your yoga practice, all skill levels welcome. (BYOM – Bring your own mat).

Outdoor Pool open 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. (weather permitting) $3.75/ A, $2.75/ youth.
Nature Centre open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Spruce Lane Farmhouse open 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Children’s Farm and Playbarn open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
13km of hiking trails open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Daily Vehicle fee has been waived for today only at ALL Provincial Parks.
The daily pool entry fee, equipment rental and camping fees still apply.
