On Monday, Aug. 6 bring your family and friends to the Emancipation Day Family Picnic at the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate to celebrate the 124th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. The annual picnic kicks off at 1 p.m. and is hosted by the Oakville Museum in partnership with the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH).
The Emancipation Day Picnic, which commemorates August 1st , 1834 – the day slavery was abolished in Canada and throughout the British Empire – will include a number of engaging activities, performances and music for the entire family.
