Bronte Rocks Regatta

The Annual Bronte Rocks regatta consists of racing on Saturday, Sept. 1 and a Middle Distance race (about 15 NM) on Sunday, Sept. 2. This mix of racing will challenge all participants.

The regatta is open to all yachts 20’ and over, Sharks and limited one design fleets.

Handicap racing will be conducted under both PHRF and IRC. The class rules for one design classes will apply. Rules for handicap racing are PHRF-Lake Ontario (PHRF-LO) for PHRF and IRC Parts A, B and C respectively. IRC rule 22.4.2 shall not apply. It is restricted to yachts with valid PHRF Certificates or endorsed IRC Certificates.

Multihull boats are encouraged to obtain a PHRF rating from the Great Lakes Multihull Racing association. Boats that do not have a GLMRA PHRF certificate and Cruising Fleet boats without a PHRF-LO certificate will be assigned ratings by the Organizing Authority.

The Organizing Authority has the right to deny entry to any yacht

Single-handed sailing is specifically prohibited.

Regatta Check-in at Bronte Harbour Yacht Club:

Friday Aug. 31 18:00 – 21:00

Saturday Sept. 1 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.

A competitors’ meeting will take place at 09:30, Sept. 1st in the regatta tent.

It is expected that racing on Saturday will consist of up to four course races and that racing on Sunday will be Middle Distance Race for all fleets. Depending upon condition, this may be varied.

The scheduled time for the warning signal for the first race on Saturday Sept. 1 is 11 a.m., the scheduled time for the warning signal for the first race on Sunday Sept. 2 is 10:00 a.m. No warning signal will be made after 16:30 on either day.


Series prizes for the first three places in each division will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony to take place as soon as possible after the racing on Sunday, Sept. 4.
