As spring turns to summer and the weather gets warmer, make a plan to come and explore Oakville! The Town is home to more than 20 beautiful trails to run, walk, hike and cycle, so dust off that old 10-speed bike and get outside! Here are the best spots to bike and snap a photo around town:
1. Pedal your heart out on the Sixteen Mile Creek Trail
Get out of the car and onto your bike to see these breathtaking views. Get a birds-eye view from one of many elevated outlooks or pick your own adventure with several paths varying in difficulty. The luscious wildwood is a great photo-op, so grab a friend and tell your story through pictures!
What to see: River views, treetop views, shade/sunshine, flowers, bridges, escarpment
Level of difficulty: Easy
Distance: 6.1 Km loop
2. Cyclists can click at Bronte Creek Provincial Park – Outer Loop Trail
Novice photographers and beginner bikers are welcome on this trail that provides lots of places to hop off your bike and grab some snaps! Try your hand at wildlife photography or simply enjoy the ride through the wooded areas. This conservation land will inspire you to take meaningful pictures that promote green living.
What to see: Wildlife, budding blooms, vast sky views, hills, stunning landscapes
Level of difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 5.0 Km loop
3. Keep pushing pedals and pictures on Joshua’s Creek Trail
Pack up your bike and come spend an afternoon rolling amongst these verdant woodlands. The out-and-back trails near Joshua’s Creek boast a display of seasonal flowers and trees to appreciate through a camera lens. Get your sun and exercise in while pausing to capture a scenic view. We bet you can’t see it just once!
What to see: Bird watching, forest, city street scenes, evergreens, stream, animals
Level of difficulty: Easy
Distance: 5.6 Km out and back
4. Take the path most traveled on Morrison Valley Trails – North/ South
Take your wheels from the road to the woods as soon as it gets warm for some fantastic foliage views. Great for the beginner cyclist with lots of places to pause for a break and to take a picture. With access to parks and open fields to soak in the sun or stay in the shade, this trail will make you feel at one with the great outdoors.
What to see: Valley views, variety of foliage, lovely homes, tall canopy of trees
Level of difficulty: Easy
Distance: 8.0 Km out and back
5. Long weekend & Longer trails at Great Lakes Waterfront Trail – Bronte/Hopedale/Oakville
From Burloak to Winston Churchill, you can explore all the best parts of Oakville on this terrific trail! Wind through city streets and residential areas while soaking up the sun and taking in lovely lakeshore views. Choose your own adventure and do your homework with these downloadable maps provided by the town. The abundance of scenic views for social media will make your Instagram followers have FOMO.
What to see: Tree-lined path, Oakville harbours, Lake Ontario, scenic terrain
